I don’t want to pay a lot of money for a little tub that comes with grandiose anti-aging claims (Estee Lauder et al). I have read a bit about the subject and have some experience, I understand some are lighter than others – hand creams being particularly thick. Am I right to presume if it’s light and non-irritating (Cetaphil) then you can put it on your face? Unfortunately these more general moisturizers often don’t specially tell you that they can/cannot be put on the face. Is there any specific criteria that makes a moisturizer appropriate for face use? Do you use generals on your face?

I’m on BenzaClin (very strong prescription acne product) and I use it at night with Cetaphil Cleanser, my skin is getting dry, Should I get the Clinique Gel (because the lotion is not oil-free) or the Cetaphil lotion?

Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel is more expensive than cetaphil. However, i think its worth it. I tried cetaphil once and i was not satisfied because it left my skin a little bit too oily- the good thing is that cetaphils lotion is around 11 bucks and cliniques is about 20.

I have eczema and have bad skin. I use Aveeno liquid soap without any perfumes or other astringents in it, also the Aveeno skin lotion without anything in it. I also use Eucerin and Hydrocortosone 2.5% for my skin, this is a script. I rub the Eucerin on first then the Hydro on last. I also get shots twice a week, they cost $2500.00 a shot.

well after i wash my face in the morning, i go to school and end up doing band, after marching and sweating, i immediately use the restroom to washmy face and afterwards my face gets oily throughout the day, any suggestions? everytime my face is oily i go to the restroom to dab some water on my face not wash it, otherwise itll make my skin dry and force it to produce more oil. is there any moisturizer that will keep my face shine free and treat acne?
I’d invest in an acne regime like Acne free to kill the bacteria (oily skin) and use a shampoo for oily hair (rinse, repeat)
Also Stridex makes little towels that you can pack in your back pack and use during school. Simple soap and water won’t help –
Repeat at night the regime (you settle on buying) and I bet you find you get a handle on the oily skin/break outs.
Keeping those pads handy at school will help too -

how long does a typical rosacea outbreak last for ?
i have minor rosacea not bad enough to be on medication . but sometimes it will get worse like it is right now and it becomes very itchy and stings a little. it rarely gets to the point of itching but when it does it eventually goes away i just cant remember how long this usually takes for it to stop itching . should i apply moisturizer will that help ?
Hummm – itching should stop within 12 to 16 hours… then the area has to withdraw the fluid in the tissue… 2 or 3 days for that. Nothing ever seems to help – cool damp cloth.
Can you get a little Prednisone? Take it at the first sign of the outbreak?
You might try Witch Hazel – wet a cloth or paper towel and pat it on the area.

I like Coppertone oil-free, and for my face I use Neutrogena dry touch Helioplex. There are generics now for both of these, oil-free Parsol (some number like 1789), They work really well for me and are not greasy and heavy like so many other sunscreens. I think the lotion is best because you can make sure you cover the skin. The spray leaves areas unprotected.
I don’t think it helps too much with dark circles. That’s got something to do with blood vessels and thin skin, but it can’t hurt. It does keep your skin healthy, which might mean it won’t thin out and get old as fast.
And it’s ok to use even if you’re not in the sun. We get sun from sitting near windows indoors too, so it’s really good to always use it.
