Is clinique Redness Solutions Daily Relief Cream any good?

did I just waste $55 on glorified moisturizer?
I’m Canadian, that’s why it costs more. Damn economics.

Hey, I work at Estee Lauder and I am constantly checking out Clinique to see what they have that works well. Sometimes at work I’ll scrub my make-up off leaving my face all red. The Clinique manager, Laila is her name, always let’s me use the redness solutions moisturizer. It works instantly so that my redness disappears. Why you paid $55 I don’t know because it’s only $39.50 at Macy’s for the 1.7 oz jar which I think is the only size they make.

Hi yahoo community – could anyone recommend an anti-aging skin care range that works for a 40 yr old?

For further info, I’ve always used a skin care regime and factor 30 in the summer, but some wrinkles are beginning to creep in. I don’t want to go down the Botox route, but have found that the choice out there is baffling. I wondered what other people have found that works for them. Thanks everyone.

I certainly can!, and have been using the product for several years!. Retin A cream. I read about this product many years before my doctor did!. Apparently ‘cher’ was one of the first users of this product! Retinova was the original anti-ageing cream on the market which I got on private prescription (around £25 a tube – but lasted 6 mths) Retin A is the only anti-ageing cream that works, and is in many skin creams at the moment! it slowly peels away the top layer of the skin – more gentle than a facial peel! You have to keep your face out of the sun though, because the skin can be very sensitive using the cream. Also, it’s the sun that does the most damage. It does work and you can see the difference after 3-6 months. I buy it off the internet for around £15 per tube, it can be very expensive if you don’t shop around! I’ve used it for around 6 years. My skin is still sagging, but the wrinkles are certainly not as deep as they could be! I’m 42 and smoke too.

Basically Im the type of girl who does my own hair and makeup and will never trust anyone else to do it.

But I want to ask YOU that do you treat ureself as a professional makeup artist for your OWN self? Do you treat yourself like you are ur own client?

Second question – For YOURSELF – do you purchase the ENTIRE makeup artist kit – e.g. professional makeup (the entire kit e.g. the FULL MAC cosmetics range etc), the hair styling equipment that is used by professionals and professional skin care range??

I mean – is it wise? You love makeup, you do your own makeup, everyone else loves you. So you are YOUR own professional but you dont really make a career out of it since u’d rather be a Journalist, Technician, Doctor etc. But as an INTEREST and for PERSONAL USE would u buy the entire makeup artist kit..??

When doing makeup, you always want to treat yourself as the client because your technically treating yourself. Why not buy the whole kit? When you put on your makeup you ant to feel confident and beautiful not sloppy and trampy looking, so why shouldn’t you treat yourself? People will be asking you who does your make-up and you’ll say, I do and people would be like omg really and all this stuff so I say why not?!Right?!?!

What is the best moisturizer for Oily Acne prone Skin?

I have used Proactive, Neutrogena, Clean & Clear , Clearsil and acne free. I dont seem to find the right moisturizer for my oily acne prone skin. I always seem to have 1 or 2 pimples travelling on the face.
Currently I am using Cuticura Soap, Thayer Rose Petal-Witch Hazel Toner & Hope in a Jar. At night I also put the Mario Badescu drying lotion which seems to be minimising my pimple.
I have heard Creme De La Mer & La Praire are good but they are VERY expensive and I cant afford it. I have also heard that Dremu Oil is suppossed to be really good. Has any one used it and can u tell me if it helps acne or not. I am a bit worried to use it on my face since it IS a oil and dont want to help my oily skin with more breakouts.
I also wnated to knwo if anyone knows what is the best SPF I can use with Hope in a jar since it does not contain any. I am currently using Neutrogena Oil free moisturizer with SPF 15 (live in NY) after hope in a jar but it seems to get my face oily by mid-day.

It sounds like your over doing it with the drying products (witch hazel, basescu). I too have oily skin, and have found that over use of drying agents can actually back fire and cause my skin to be more oily to compensate. Try doing the basescu every other day to give your skin your skin a chance to “even out”. You may also find it not neccesary to wach your skin every morning, as this too can cause over drying thus too much oil. I really like Neutragena’s oil free moisturizers other wise

what would make a health bootcamp fun/interesting for you?

Later on in the 2011 bracket. A professional Health Clinic near Nashville Tennessee is going to be holding an Anti-aging Health Boot camp
So far our idea is new so we are very open to your idea’s on what will make this health seminar of 2-3days more interesting to you as a consumer.

Please let us know what your ideah’s are, we would love to hear from you.
There is going to be sections focusing on diet, exercise, ect.
As part of making it more interesting we are thinking of bringing in a catered meal that u can either learn to make or make yourselves and skin care products.

Great idea. I’ve been looking for a health spa in the Middle TN area where you could learn exercise programs and they would provide healthy meals. Maybe hold your camp at a B&B.

Nutrition should be a prime component. Maybe a make-it-yourself where all the ingredients are provided and you assemble your own cooking-bag or roasting pan. Provide recipe cards to take home. Or a recipe book.

One-on-one with a trainer would be good because everyone has different goals, needs, and preexisting conditions. Provide a written exercise plan designed just for the individual.

How about a Q&A session with a doctor or a panel of doctors.

What is the best oil free facial moisturizer?

I’m looking for something not too expensive….under $20. No SPF, no scents.

I use Biore steam activated cleanser everyday, and st. ives facial scrub once or twice a week.

I used Clinique gel and lotion moisturizer and they both made me break out :(

Olay Complete is great, but it does have SPF though. It’s my favorite moisturizer

Is it just me or am I just being tempted to quit already?

I started with Mary Kay around the end of February, making it one month since I started. I have attended two meetings, the first one went great because I did learn lots of things but yesterday I felt really bad because I see that all these women get recognized for selling a lot of products and at the same time had lots of Skin Care Classes. I have only had one facial, and hope to have around three more this and next week(I have already spoken to some people about it). But, what I feel bad about is that I have had lots of people not order from the book because they either have had an allergic reaction or because they believe it is too expensive. What I think is that they do not know the product. But anyway, should I be thinking this way already? I know one of the main concepts from Mary Kay is “not quitting”.I need to mention that I do have a full time job and have a married life with two young boys.How can I approach other methods to try to sell Mary Kay, and I do like it though.

DOn’t give up! It will get easier. The first year of a business is the hardest and the first 6 months are the hardest of that. You business will have highs and lows. Right now you are comparing yourself to people that may have more clients, a different situtation at home, working their business longer, who knows. BUt, please don’t let yourself compare yourself to anyone. Your goal should be to do the best you can right now and try to improve every month. The focus should be growing your clientele by seeing more faces. Don’t worry about sales right now. Just see as many faces as you can and it will grow from there.

I suggest doing the power start: 30 faces in 30 days. I know this sounds like a lot, but with 6 classes of 5 people each, you would be done! Plus, getting referrels from each one makes a huge difference! When I hit lows I do the power start all over again. Whomever I ask I just say “I am working on a huge goal for my business and need to borrow your face” then I remind them to keep their checkbook in the car. It takes the pressure off and if they like the product, then they will buy.

I have 2 boys, work fulltime and my husband is deployed, so I totally understand your frustration. Just keep working at it and give it TIME!

It should be okay to use honey. You shouldn’t use it daily it could make your face oily. DO NOT USE PLAIN LOTION!!!! It will make your face greasy. That is not good! You should try using Mary Kay it is great find a consultant in your neighbor hood.

Should I stop using anti-aging products?

I use Olay 7 in 1 total effects anti aging cream and I’m getting a lot of crap for it. I understand that I’m only 14 and anti-aging products are not yet necessary, but I use it because, aren’t they supposed to make your skin healthier? I want my skin to stay healthy and young, but will using this cream do the exact opposite at my age? I’d appreciate kind answers, nothing too harsh, thanks.

Start low tech and go with good old fashioned Oil of Olay (the original bottle around $7 or so). I’ve used it since I was in my teens. I’m 44 now but most people think I’m in my late 20′s early 30′s. I owe it all to Oil of Olay!

(for me its either veet salon ready wax strips or aussie 3minute miracle leave in conditioner)

I really like Biore’s Shine Control Moisturizer and their pore minimizing nose strips.
The moisturizer mattes your skin (especially great for an oily T-zone,) and it is travel-size. It has a nice mild smell to it too.
The pore strips adhere to your nose and suck the stuff that is clogging your pores right out. They won’t make your pores disappear, but when you take the strip off (once it’s dried in about ten minutes,) you can actually see the stuff that was in your pores sticking to the strip! Gross, but sorta cool. It works well.

Correctly applied spray tan?

Hi Everyone,

Today i went for a my first natural spray tan.

I did the recommended exfoliation & shower before hand,
i didn’t wear any deodorant or moisturizers.

She sprayed me down, but the bronzer in the tan had leaked
in places. She told me after 2 hours i can wash the bronzer off
with bar soap. After 3 hours i did just that being very light & careful
washing. Then i moisturized. But it now looks like all the tan has
washed off. I’m left with stains where the bronzer had dripped.
I’ve been watching videos on youtube of how it should be applied
& they are different to how she applied mine.

I was told by my friend that it might darken over night & the stains
will come off after a couple of washes.

Should i go back to the tanning saloon?

Has anyone had similar experiences?

I’m sorry to hear you are disappointed with your tan.

Normally, you need to leave your tan develop (and avoid water) for 6-8 hours while the tan develops. Then when you shower, you will see the bronzer wash off–but your tan will be developed underneath.

You could always check with someone at the salon–they may have a solution or may even give you a credit for a tan.

I would give it at least 24 hours to see if it develops to your liking. If you are “stuck” with your tan the way it is, try homemade remedies like baking soda and lemon juice to even out any spots you are unhappy with.

iv always had dry skin and i used to have eczema on my face but its gone now ….but when i use makeup , after a while it kinda goes patchy and wears off in places , especially in warm weather. i know how u feel i have psorasis and eczema. ur gonna need to make sure u have a good moisturizer, maybe a cream, depends on ur preference. if u like the foundation u r wearing try to add a little cream moisturizer just a little might have a test it over and over, it makes the foundation a little more moisturizing, im not saying make a tinted moisturizer but the cream lotion helps.

Using Clinique Moisture Surge… ?

I bought some on Friday afternoon after hearing that it can be used alone at night as a moisturizer and that during the day I can mix it with my Oil of Olay mositurizer for more moisture. BUT, I’m worried that
1. will it interfere in any way with the spf 15? OR vitamins C&E in the product?

2. How do I use it in conjunction with the All about Eyes eye cream? On top of that? or under it? can i use all 3 together?

Feel free to use derm.terms, as I’m an avid ALLURE reader and I stay up on the latest, i’m just trying to find something new for this all-of-a-sudden-changing 22 year old skin on my face. WHOA. :-)

It can be used alone or with other moisturizers that you have. I prefer it as an extra, and right now in the winter with the heat on, my skin is more dry.
I use it after I have applied every other moisturizer or treament I use, and it does not mess with anything that may be in the moisturizers. I don’t mix it with anything, I just apply it before my makeup. Take an extra minute to massage it in, until it may tingle a bit. Let it absorb before applying any makeup. This will lock in moisture all day. I speak from experience that this does what it says it will do.
It is a very thin gel, oil-free, not a cream, so it won’t feel that you are adding yet another moisturizer, which can be a pain in the butt to do.
You really shouldn’t be using anything on your eyes except eye cream; however, this is a gel and it is oil and fragrance free, so I don’t think it would be that bad. I know that the Dramaticially Different Gel is safe for the eyes, and this is quite similar.
The best thing about this is that if you want more moisture after you have applied makeup, you can put it right over your makeup and it doesn’t mess it up. You might also be interested in the Moisture Surge for eyes and the spray.
Since you said that your skin was changing at 22 get the Clinique Total Turnaround Concentrate. Talk about woah. I am not usually a preacher, but this stuff works like crazy. This is actually an exfoliator that is time released, I believe, to get new cells to the surface, which is very important to the appearance and feel of skin. Immediately your skin will be smoother and softer, but overtime it is more even toned and brighter–for which you probably do not have a problem, but it is preventative, and a good age to start this. My husband doesn’t know if I am coming or going sometimes, but when I started using this, he noticed.
I also recommend the superdefense and the super rescue night moisturizer. Both will be protecting your skin against free radicals and are very moisturizing. But if you are happy with Olay, by all means, stay with Olay. (Get me talking about Clinque and I go off..)

A few weeks ago I gave to my brother, as a Christmas present the Lab Series skincare for men line. He started using it last saturday. (Multiaction facewash, Oil control & Instant Moisture), but he’s still having oily nose and forehead. Is it fine? I mean, how long does it takes to find out results?, I know that a week is too soon, but what do you think?

Also, he’s getting some acne, we went to the store and they told us that acne at the beginning of the treatment is completely normal, because the products are cleaning all the skin and removing all the oil and stuff, Is this true?

What are some good at home remedies for undereye circles?

I have really dark under eye circles that are heredetary (not from sleep, i always have them even when i get plenty of sleep). ok i’m going to assume you are just as busy as I am and you want the best results :)
you have a lot of products listed that you don’t need to use everyday
so i put (alternate) when you could use either

Morning: you probably want fast steps and little work in the mornings
foaming acne wash/deep cleaning astringent (alternate)
neutrogena advanced solution

Evening (optional-maybe weekends):
deep action cream cleanser
dual action moisturizer

Night (important!):
makeup remover wipes
oatmeal and honey scrub/cleaning mask by April/stress control slear scrub (alternate)
perscribed acne medication – works best at night i believe
possible dual action moisturizer if your skin gets dry

Actually, you are smart to start thinking about this now. Wrinkles, age spots and the breaking down of collagen and elastin all start from an early age, we just don’t see evidence of this until we get older.

There are a few things that you can do to help prevent aging early. Don’t smoke- this dries out your skin, it also is a highly repetitive action (pursing your lips) that will breakdown the collagen in your lips and cause wrinkles. Use moisturizers to hydrate your skin. This will keep the cells healthy and minimize deterioration. Use sunscreen. This is a must as the UV radiation will damage your skin fast. Dont use products with alcohol in them to clean your face, as this dries it out.

Effective moisturizer for acne-prone skin???!?!?

Hi, I don’t have severe acne, just from moderate to mild, but it can get really ugly at times. Im currentl;y using OLAY total effects daily moisturizer with spf 15 and was wondering whether there is a better moisturizer and by that i mean something light weight but still does the job. I have oily skin and i feel the total effects does get a bit heavy at times.

Please for the love of god, do not listen to Phillip2167, you should ALWAYS use a moisturizer! If your on an acne regimen, Then i suggest using a product by Alba Botanica called Aloe & Green Tea oil-free moisturizer. It works really well, it gives you an overall great coverage and feels great! Also, even though it wasn’t part of the question, i feel the need to say, you should ALWAYS use a sunscreen with a high spf as well. Believe me, unless you want old wrinkly skin when your older, using a sunscreen with an spf of 85 will work to keep your skin looking young for as long as possible! Just use a sunscreen over your moisturizer and brush your face with talc powder, it will give you the skin care benefits you need, and leave you looking non-oily and refreshed! :) hope i helped!
