can you use Salicylic acid and benzoyl peroixde together for acne?

i’ve been thinking about replacing my spot treament antibiotic clindamycin (the fear of is causing bacterial resistance) to benzoyl peroxide. My skin doesn’t react badly with it since i was a user to proactiv but it was getting too expensive. i was wondering if it’s safe to use it after i wash it with a salicylic acid wash then applying salicylic acid after i apply to benzoyl peroxide

Salicylic acid and benzoyl are two very active ingredients. It is like mixing soap and chlorine together. Yes it will erase the acne but will harm your skin terribly and will be very damaged and less defensive for sun damage, enviromental toxins or free radicals.
My advice: use the salicylic acid 0.5% Total Blemish treatement from Erno Laszlo morning and evening and protect your face with an oil free sun protection in the morning even in the winter season (anti oxydant moisture complexe SPF15)
Don’t forget to lower your intake of the dairy products such milk cheese and ice cream. You may replace milk for a short term by the soy beverage for the calcim compensation. Less soft drinks and avoid smoking please.

Putting together a infant/toddler tub basket together.. HELP!?

i recommend u use them from the same product because using differnt products have different chemicals which can damage ur face..using the same one with the same vitamins from the productts give u better results!!

Cetaphil moisturizer is really amazing. It’s unscented and doesn’t have nasty chemicals in it. It’s also completely oil-free so it’s great for acne-prone skin.

I would definitely advise against commercial brands of moisturizers like Clean & Clear or Proactive, because they usually have scents or chemicals that can actually strip your skin of moisture and make your acne worse.

Any recomendations for a good body moisturizer for dry skin?

I’ve never needed a body lotion before, my body wash was enough to keep the dry skin away, but the last couple of weeks my legs and arms have been quite flakey . Any ideas on what I can use to soften/remove the dryness? I’m on a student budget so nothing too expensive please

Nothing with just spf 15. If there are, where can you buy it?

i use neutrogena healthy defense spf 45 and that was recommended by my dermatologist.
it leaves your face a little shiney but blotting sheets and toilet seat covers (weird, i know lol) can get rid of that

Should I mix Clean and Clear cleanser with neutrogena moisturizer?

I really like the sensitive skin facial cleanser by clean and clear, but they don’t really have a moisturizer that works for me. I have dry skin and it needs a lot of moisturizer after cleansing. I found some neutrogena moisturizers online that have good reviews and I’m thinking about trying one. Would it be ok to mix clean and clear with neutrogena, or should I try and find a neutrogena cleanser that I like to go along with the lotion?
If you have any suggestions about what works well for you, let me know! I have very dry, sensitive skin that is prone to redness.

Hi there! I actually use the clean and clear sensitive soap too (the clear bottle with the purple lid i think) and it works well for me in removing leftover makeup residue after using my ponds cleansing cloths. My fave moisturizer to use in conjunction with that is the neutrogena oil free combo skin (its in a pump). So no, I dont think it would be a problem.

This lotion is not at all thick and is almost more like a gel… it gets absorbed really quickkly into the skin and leaves no residue. If your skin still feels dry, apply a second coat. IVe found it more effective to apply it in layers, rather than applying a whole bunch the first time. It works better for some reason, more readily absorbed.

The neutrogena oil free moisturizers (just the regular line, not healthy skin or advanced defense or any of those, they’re in a white bottle with a pump and cost between 9-12 dollars) have worked the best for me and have never broke me out. It’s my go to moisturizer, one that ive continued to repurchase again and again. Hope this helps!

Please help!! make-up skin-care people!?

i’m not a very observant person, but i’m pretty sure since i’ve started using mac :studio sculpt foundation i’ve been breaking out, but i’ve had breakouts before my skin is alot more oily than ever! mac studio sculpt has the best coverage ive ever had from a foundation though, are there any really good coverage foundations that you can recommend that wouldn’t make my face so oily, i wash my face morning and night, and i know the wash is a little harsh but i use acne moisturizer so it balances, i used to use dermalogica special cleansing gel but it didn’t do anything for my face so i’m sticking with what i got because my face feels cleaner
i need something that doesn’t moisurize for i have been experiencing very oily skin by the end of the day atop of my makeup

That’s why I stopped using MAC. I use Makeup Forever now. I have a lot of dark spots from acne and sometimes I just use their Full coverage concealer. It’s oil free and covers really well. It’s also waterproof. If I use full foundation I use their HD foundation. It covers really well and looks really good on camera. I also use MAC skinfinsh natural powder. It covers well and isn’t heavy so I don’t really breakout from it. I read that if you’re prone to breakouts the best thing to do is take your makup off as soon as you get home and don’t need it anymore that way you don’t do more harm than neccessary. Also if you use a brush be sure to wash it often.

Can I mix sunblock and moisturizer?

I like using nivea body skin firming moisturizer (I have tried a LOT of lotions out there and this is my favorite due to its smell, how thin it is, and how my skin feels after). I also want skin protection as well though, so I was wondering if I could/should
1) mix sunblock WITH the moisturizer and maybe I will receive the effects of both (more limited, however)
2) put moisturizer on and then sunblock
3) put sunblock on and then moisturizer

which is the most effective and best option for me?

I have tried sunscreens with moisturizers such as the aveeno face spf 35 but it’s so thick (I use it on my face but I can’t imagine putting it on the rest of mmy body because its so thick). I also don’t really like the smell or effects of any other lotion besides nivea. Thanks!!

I’d say moisturizer, then sunblock, because the lotion will be absorbed, then you can protect your skin above that.

why does Olay only have the tinted moisturizer for extra dry skin?

just wondering. i was interested in it but i don’t have extra dry skin. is it alright? if not, what other tinted moisterizer works well?

I think Olay has tinted moisturizers for different skin types: dry, oily, normal, anti-age, extra dry, extra oily, etc, etc. Same thing with their face washes and creams.

I love Olay but I haven’t used the tinted moisturizers .. I use the normal one and some powder-based foundation.

Less is more. I am in my 50′s but I receive many compliments on my skin. I have my mother to thank for that.
She had nice skin also. However, over the years I have learned that putting too much product, body wash, scrubs, etc. on my face does more harm than good. I just rinse my face in the shower with water only. I use a gentle face wipe to cleanse and I wear a light moisturizer under my foundation. Also, protect your face from the sun or your face will end up looking like an old saddle bag.

Is it true that BB Oil Moisturizer & Pink Oil Moisturizer coat your hair, rather than moisturizing it?

& that they just “call it a moisturizer” so their products can sell? That’s what someone on here said. I just need to get confirmation on if this is true or not.

its absolutely true. the mineral oil and petroluem just sit on the hair locking in what ever existing moisture but locking out any additional moisture. You’d be better off using a natural oil like shea, coconut avocado or extra virgin olive oil

I can seem to find this moisturizer. I have been using it for years and its the moisturizer I love. They stopped selling the Normal to Oily Skin which is oil-free in the drugstores. I brought a few bottles on the internet but now I am on my last bottle and can not seem to find it. Can someone tell me where to buy this?

Need some skin and make up advice, can you help?

I have very fair sensitive skin, and I always have some sort of red spots or patches that I can never seem to cover up. My pores are also very large and clogged. I take care of my skin, I wash, tone, use a moisturizer with spf, but my skin is awful. I’m 19 and breast feeding so I think my hormones are still out of whack which might be be part of the problem but what can I do to remove my black heads,make my pores smaller, improve my skin and help eliminate redness?

Also I can never cover up my imperfections or red zones with out looking like a cake faced clown, any tips?
I just use moisturizer as my base, are primers over rated or are they actually helpful?
My skin is very dry and oily which really affects how long my make up lasts (an hour tops) any tips for that? I drink lots of water every day and take a multi vitamin but it’s always dry. and makeup just dries it out more.

I think your skin needs simplicity. Those toners do more harm than good, especially for your skin type. It’ll dry you out, your skin will then produce excess oil to balance it out, which in turn leads to clogged pores! I’d wash it morning and night with dove soap and moisturize it with an oil free moisturizer. Not wearing make up is probably a good idea to clear it up. Chug down all the water you can bare. Stay away from sweets. Eat healthy (As I’m sure you’re doing already because you’re breast feeding). Don’t touch your face! Using head and shoulders shampoo a couple times weekly to wash your face helps. Also, to clean up redness, visine (the eyedrops) for red eyes actually helps reduce the red skin inflammation.

I absolutely love Oil of Olay Products. They are great for all skintypes of ALL ages. I am 18 years old, and started using Olay Total Effects Anti Aging Anti Blemish Moisturizer last year. Not only did it feel extremely light and airy going on my skin, but it also hydrated my skin to a soft and supple touch. Another factor that made me love this product was the fact that it made my oily and uneven complexion, shinefree and pimple free!
***By the way, if you checked out all the labels on Olay moisturizer products, you can see for yourself that they are all “oil-free”. Even their CREAMS are oil free, which is extremely hard to find!

*Neutrogena moisturizers are okay as well, but I don’t find the moisturizing effects as potent or long-lasting.

Help me choose a skin care system?

I had my first facial today at a day spa. It was mentioned to me that I have a bit of rosacea which I never knew. I was also told I should use products for sensitive skin, that my skin is a touch oily and that I need to start using an exfoliant. I’d like to find a line of skin care products that carry a cleanser, exfoliant, toner and moisturizer. I can’t afford the line of products that the spa carries (we’re talking over $200). She also mentioned to me that products carried at walmart and such have added chemicals and preservatives to prolong their shelf life which can be more harmful to skin.

With rosacea you definitely need to use products for sensitive skin.
As for an exfoliant, you need to use something very gentle. Nothing with coarse beads or a scrub or any harsh chemicals. Alpha hydroxy acids are best.
I would not recommend Clinique as it too has parabens in it, which are preservatives.

Which skin care brand do you think is best?

I am 15 years old. I live in New England. I have oily skin in the summer, and combination skin in the winter. It gets very shiny, but is also quick to become itchy and oily, but dry underneath. I used to use Clinique 3-Step, but I find the regimen too complicated (different makeup remover, different moisturizer to have spf, etc) so I have been looking into other brands. I have gotten samples of a couple and honestly, they have all worked very well.

Which of these do you think is best:

Origins
Shiseido
Philosophy (though most of the philosophy items are geared towards anti-aging)

being honest my skin is the same and i wouldnt use any of these brands as they have alot of cheicals in that may affect your skin i use nivea, no irratation less oily smells great and makes skin very soft !

Are there any creams that will help heal a sore ON MY FACE?

I had this huge pimple on my forehead and i popped it but its like, taken the skin off!!! I now have this massive cut thing/ red mark on my face and its really ugly. i don’t have much at home – would moisturiser do anything for it or will that just irritate it? Is there anything else that will help? Also im going out tomorrow and I sorta have to look good! Suggestions?

Get some oil and rub it all over your face let it stay there for about an hour then wash it off. all the dirt should be on the oil and it helps keep your skin nice and fresh. MAKE SURE U WASH IN HOT WATER OR WARM.

does Garnier Pure A moisturiser work?

The Pure A moisturiser looks so good on the tv but does it really minimise pores and clear up imperfections beacuase i would love to try it but it is £5 for a tiny tube of it so i dont want to buy it when i could get something better for the same price

i bought the day cream and night gel in tesco’s (buy 2 for £4.50). It is good i don’t get hardly any spots now, I would say it does work cos it doesn’t leave your skin greasy. You don’t need alot so the small tube does last a while.

what you need:
cooking oil
sugar
toothbrush
cup
good moisturizer
sun lotion spf 30
Vitamin C & E
lip balm/chapstick with spf 30
facial wipes

do this 4 times a week for a month or less for 2 mins before you go to bed….
1. mix sugar and cooking oil together in a cup
2. get a toothbrush
3. put mixture on tooth brush
4. rub toothbrush on lips
5. wipe off the mixture off your lips with some wipes
6. apply the good moisturizer and vitamin C & E on your lip before you go to bed
7. leave the moisturizer on over night
8. in the morning, apply sun lotion spf 30 on your lips leave it soak in and then apply the lip balm/chapstick with spf 30
9. carry the lip balm/chapstick with spf 30 with you when needed to apply on lips

results:
perfect smooth soft lips without no flaws =)

Creams/moisturisers for redness of the face (keratosis pilaris rubra faceii)?

I have rather sever KP Rubra Faceii which covers both of my cheeks fully. I am aware that there is Pulse Dye Laser treatment that can help it but that’s quite an expensive option – so could anyone recommend anything that can help reduce surface redness of the face? Any tips of creams/moisturisers/other would be greatly appriciated.

I’m not sure if this works, but the reviews seem pretty legitimate.

What is the best moisturizer for severe dry skin (face only)?
I have very dry skin on my face.. to the point of cracking and peeling. I also get acne from time to time. I need to purchase a moisturizer that helps these problems. I’ve tried using petroyluem jelly but that clogs pores. I’m thinking that I need something that constantly sloughs dead skin cells like Olay Regenerist or something.
